Yesterday we went to see the AMA superbike race at Miller sports race way, which is HUGE by the way. It was awesome! We wanted so badly to take Talan, but decided not to. It was a good thing we didn't take him. We were right off the track and it was a little too loud for a babys ears. Next year he'll love it though. We brought him back a little souvenir...
We forked over the extra cash and bought seats in the grandstands. We figured this is a once a year thing at most, and being our first trip to the races, we might as well splurge a little. The grandstands were really nice, covered, very clean and you could see almost the entire track from them. We met a friend from work, Rodney, and his wife and 11 year old son and sat with them in the grandstands. Rodney is the one who bought my old Kawasaki Ninja ZX-636. It's good that John has a friend that's into the same stuff to hang with us. That's Rodney and his son right below John and Rodneys wife is next to John (you can't see her in this picture).
Heres another pic of the racers. My new favorite is Ben Bostrom, even though he took 3rd. He leans more, rides harder and whips the bike around better than any of the other riders...he's really fun to watch and cheer for. He just happens to ride a Yamaha...my favorite bike. I also liked Ben Spies, Jamie Hacking, Miguel Duhamel and Matt Mladin.
There was a girl in the last race...Jessica Leisky. She qualified...but came in second to last. =( Apparently she used to be a professional snowboarder. I think she is the first girl ever to be in one of the AMA spoerbike races. Hopefully she'll do better as the year progresses.
