Talans First Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas!!!

We spent Talans first Christmas with my family, which included my parents, my sister Nicole and her husband Dan, and my sister Jacqui. My sister Suzanne and her husband Jared spent Christmas in Colorado this year, but we will get to have them here next year.

We went over to my parents house in the morning when we woke up. Nicole was pretty anxious and had already started getting into her stocking...she loves Christmas morning ;)
First, we let Talan get into his stocking. He had a duck that was like a weeble (you know, weebles wobble but they don't fall down), a mini Denver Broncos football & a rattle that had a bunch of spinning knobs on it all in his stocking. He seemed to like the football most. It was just the right size for him.

Next we tried to get him to open a present. He didn't quite know what to do with it. John tried to help him get it started. Talan ended up taking the paper off in thin strips. It took a long time and a few times we had to re-engage his interest, but he finally got the first present unwrapped.
We then got it out of the box for him to play with it. It was a little people pirate ship that makes noises and shoots things out of a cannon. He loved it. He got the hang of shooting things out of the cannon pretty quickly (this includes not only the cannonball, but the pirates as well and anything else he can get to fit in the cannon).

He only had patience to start opening one more present (when he got distracted, I gave in and finished opening it for him). It was a popcorn top (a mix between one of those poppers and a top) from Aunt Jacqui. Then we "helped" him open his present from Aunt Suzanne and Uncle Jared. It was a soft, big wheeled truck that makes noises when the bumper hits into things. Talan kept picking it up and dropping it onto the floor to get it to make the noises. The rest we saved for later in the week. They sat in the living room until he finally showed an interest in opening them.

He got this popcorn top from his aunt Jacqui. He really likes to carry it around...it has a handle that makes it the perfect candidate, and it has a big red button for him to push:

Grandma and Grandpa gave Talan this bouncing Zebra, he likes to play on it while holding onto a plastic sword that I mentioned in our last entry.

We had our traditional Christmas banquet breakfast next and Talan had his first taste of scrambled eggs/omelette. He seemed to like it, but wanted to play with it more than he wanted to eat it.

We headed up to Salt Lake to spend some time with my Moms family. Talan got to meet Jack, my Aunt Gaylas poodle. Talan chased the doggie around for a little while, then gave up. He finally got to pet Jack and Jack licked his hand, which Talan tolerated and even seemed to like! I think we may have to get him a dog before too long.

Christmas Eve:

We spent Christmas Eve at my parent's house as well, after a trip to my grandparents house to visit with them, my Aunt Susan and a few of my cousins.
Back at the zoo (my parents place)...we sang songs, played bunco, got a little silly and watched a Christmas movie together. Talan helped play the piano and even sang a little. He really liked having all those people around. I think he is going through withdrawals. Just this morning, he grabbed one of his shoes and his coat and brought them over to me. Then he went over to the door and waited patiently. I guess I was too boring for him and he wanted to go where there are more people to play with! =)

Talans Grandmother (Johns mother) passed away on Christmas Eve, she will be sorely missed and in our thoughts often. She was a wonderful, sweet person and we only wish that Talan had been given more time to know her better.
